Showcasing Groundbreaking Research at ICAS Congress 2024

The University of Patras team, a proud partner of the EICACS project, presented their groundbreaking research at the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) Congress 2024 in Florence, Italy. Their paper, titled "In-Flight Vibration Signal-Based Detection and Localization for UAV Propeller Anomalies Under Uncertainty via Machine Learning Type Methods", introduced advanced machine-learning techniques to enhance UAV operational safety and efficiency. This research demonstrates EICACS's commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into air combat systems.

 

EICACS Steering Committee Meeting in Madrid

Held on September 24-25, 2024, at Indra's headquarters in Alcobendas, Madrid, the EICACS Steering Committee meeting brought together key stakeholders to discuss the strategic direction of the project. The sessions were filled with collaborative discussions aimed at enhancing Europe's air combat capabilities through innovation and standardization. Spotlight on EICACS at DASC 2024

EICACS team members actively participated in the Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC) in San Diego, California. A key highlight was the presentation of the paper, "Artificial Intelligence Verification Based on Operational Design Domain (ODD) Characterizations Utilizing Subset Simulation." Special recognition goes to Lukas Höhndorf from IABG for representing EICACS and showcasing its advancements in applying AI to aerospace systems.

 

Thales Leads the Discussion on AI Sovereignty at CAID 2024

At the CAID Conference 2024 in Rennes, France, Thales presented their research, "Methodological Framework to Assess the Sovereignty of AI-Enabled Systems." This critical paper explored innovative strategies for maintaining sovereignty in deploying AI within defense systems. Thales’s leadership in addressing pivotal challenges in aerospace and defense industries is a testament to EICACS’s far-reaching impact. The conference, held on November 19-20, highlighted the importance of AI sovereignty in shaping Europe’s defense landscape.

 

EICACS General Assembly: A Year in Review

The annual EICACS General Assembly convened at the prestigious Dassault Aviation headquarters in Saint-Cloud, Paris, France. This meeting brought together partners from across Europe to review the year’s achievements and set strategic goals for the future. The discussions reinforced the spirit of collaboration and innovation driving EICACS forward.

 

Recognition at the MIT Portugal Program Conference

On November 8, Helder Silva from Thales Edisoft Portugal highlighted the EICACS project during his presentation at the MIT Portugal Program Conference. He emphasized his company’s contributions, particularly to Work Package 7 (Standardization of Connectivity/Communication Interfaces). This acknowledgment showcased the importance of cross-border collaboration in achieving EICACS’s objectives and advancing aerospace standardization.

 

Advancing Software Standardization Through WP8 Workshop

The EICACS Work Package 8 workshop successfully concluded on November 19-20, 2024, at GMV facilities in Madrid, Spain. This workshop focused on standardizing software development, integration methods, and mission system software to enhance interoperability and functionality. The outcomes of this session are pivotal in ensuring that EICACS continues to set the benchmark for excellence in mission system software development.
