A converter integrated with a fuel cell PEMFC stack has been developed within the European project FLHYSAFE to provide emergency power for aircraft. The converter has a maximum input current of 175 A and use the same cooling circuit as the fuel cell. Tests conducted showed the converter achieved an efficiency of 96-97% over a wide output power range (7.5 kW to 30 kW). The DC/DC converter and the stack have been designed to be compact and modular. 

After functional validation up to 30 kW without the stack, the converter was integrated onto the stack end plate and preliminary tested up to 6 kW on the CEA fuel cell test bench.
