Collaboration and results at the forefront: EICACS 3rd Annual Event at Dassault Aviation in Saint-Cloud
The EICACS project team successfully convened its 3rd Annual Event at Dassault Aviation’s facilities in Saint-Cloud, France, last March. The gathering brought together the project consortium, technical experts, and institutional stakeholders to present key results from the Work Packages (WPs) and demonstrate the tangible benefits of the standardisation proposals developed under EICACS.
Key Highlights:
- Presentation of Work Package Results: Partners showcased progress across technical domains, including interoperability frameworks, data exchange protocols, and next-generation air combat system integration.
- Standardisation Benefits: Concrete examples were presented to illustrate how EICACS’s proposed standards enhance operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and mission success for European air combat systems.
- Strategic Alignment: The event reinforced EICACS’s role in advancing European defense cooperation, with discussions on future challenges and opportunities for standardisation.
EICACS continues to drive collaboration, innovation, and technological excellence in European air combat. Upcoming activities will focus on delivering actionable solutions to strengthen interoperability and operational coherence.

Research in focus: Scientific work presented at AAAI2026
How can we understand and trust an air combat system based on AI, is it does not prove to be truly collaborative, interoperable, and secure? This is the question that our partner's (Thibault Lahire, Reseach Engineer at Dassault Aviation) work is trying to answer, through a recently presented paper at "Interpretable Multi-Agent Path Finding via Decision Tree Extraction from Neural Policies".
This research brings new perspectives by distilling complex neural networks into transparent decision trees. The approach enhances:
- Collaboration: High-performance swarming logic that humans can actually follow.
- Interoperability: Shared, readable rules that work across different platforms and nations.
- Security: Logic you can audit, verify, and trust before the mission starts.
The paper has been presented at this year's Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) conference, one of the leading AI conferences focused on advances in modern Machine Learning, as well as more established AI.
