Flying Testbeds for Novel Long-Range Aircraft

EXAELIA Academy: Connecting the Next Generation of Aviation Innovators

The EXAELIA project is taking an important step toward by engaging the next generation of aerospace professionals through the launch of the EXAELIA Academy. This initiative aims to connect MSc students, young engineers, and researchers with leading experts from academia and industry working on the future of sustainable aviation.

The EXAELIA Academy will act as knowledge hub where participants can interact directly with experts involved in cutting-edge European research on next-generation aircraft concepts and flying testbeds. Through mentoring, collaborative discussions, and knowledge exchange, this initiative supports the development of new skills and perspectives among emerging aviation professionals.

Bridging Education and European Aviation Research

The EXAELIA project focuses on the development of innovative long-range aircraft concepts that could significantly reduce aviation emissions and accelerate the transition toward climate-neutral aviation. These developments include niche aircraft configurations and advanced propulsion concepts that require new experimental flying testbeds to validate technologies and reduce development risks.

The EXAELIA Academy complements this effort by engaging students directly in topics related to these technological challenges. By linking academic research with real project activities, the Academy helps participants gain insight into the complexities of future aircraft development and the collaborative nature of European aerospace innovation.

Topics and Learning Approach

Students participating in the Academy will have the opportunity to explore key themes relevant to the EXAELIA project, including:

  • Design concepts for future aircraft configurations
  • Flying testbeds and experimental validation
  • Engine integration and thermal management challenges

Participants will work under the guidance of expert mentors from the EXAELIA consortium. The program encourages students to exchange knowledge, present their research progress, and develop ideas collaboratively with peers and specialists.

Interactive Webinars and Collaborative Learning

The EXAELIA Academy will organize a series of interactive webinars and knowledge-exchange sessions throughout the program. These events will allow students to present their work, discuss their ideas, and receive feedback from mentors and fellow participants.

The objective is not only to showcase individual research but also to build a collaborative learning community where participants can expand their perspectives and refine their ideas over time.

Building a Network of Future Aviation Leaders

One of the main goals of the Academy is to create a growing network of young professionals engaged in the development of future aviation technologies. Through participation in the program, students will gain valuable exposure to European research activities and build connections with experts across academia, research organizations, and industry.

By supporting knowledge exchange and mentorship, the EXAELIA Academy contributes to preparing the next generation of engineers and researchers who will shape the future of long-range aviation.
