Engage 2: Forthcoming initiatives and key appointments for the ATM community

Engage 2 continues its mission to bridge the gap between ATM research and industry applications. The network has outlined a series of strategic engagements for 2026, aimed at fostering innovation, supporting young professionals, and strengthening cross-project collaboration across Europe.

The spring calendar begins in Lisbon with the Transport Research Arena (TRA2026), held from 18 to 21 April 2026. Engage 2 will be present at this major European forum to discuss the latest advancements in sustainable and digitalised mobility, contributing to the broader dialogue on the future of European transport systems.

Concurrently, the network will return to the Serbian capital on 23 April 2026 for a new Open Day in Belgrade. Following previous successful iterations, this event serves as a platform for local stakeholders, researchers, and students to engage directly with the consortium and explore the latest developments in ATM research. Further details on the programme and venue will be released in the coming weeks.

A focal point for the network’s outreach to the next generation of aviation experts will be Airspace World 2026, taking place from 26 to 28 May 2026. Under the Tomorrow’s Voices initiative, Engage 2 is set to host a dedicated programme for young professionals. This includes a new edition of the Inspirational Tours, designed to provide participants with direct access to industry leaders and first-hand insights into the technological innovations displayed on the exhibition floor.

Looking ahead to the autumn, the network will focus on technical problem-solving and synergy through the Hackathon #2 in Zagreb, scheduled for 20 and 21 October 2026. This event will be held in collaboration with the DIALOG and AWARE projects, offering a multi-disciplinary environment where participants can tackle complex ATM challenges. This joint initiative underscores the importance of a coordinated approach to research within the SESAR ecosystem.
