Following the completion of the "Option Selection phase", work in AREANA WP1: “R&I Aviation programs synergies” is progressing further: following the detailed analysis of stakeholders' expectations for optimized cooperation in European aviation research, tailor-made solutions will now be developed that meet the expectations of funding bodies but also meet the needs of the research community.
The team of Task 1.3 "Research Strategy" has started an analysis of the extent to which existing national (and selected regional) aviation strategies in the areas of sustainable aviation and drones complement or overlap. Based on these examples, possible process proposals will be developed that should enable coordination of the existing strategies.
In parallel, considering the provided survey-information on stakeholder expectations of the analysis phase - which gathered valuable insights from national and regional funding bodies, and on basis of the relevant research strategies, an analysis of the current research funding opportunities shall be performed, supporting the design of possible joint calls. The focus of Task 1.4 "Call Design" is to facilitate collaborative research projects and find synergies for possible joint RTI efforts, towards options for multinational cooperation.
Further tasks will examine the possibilities for improved cooperation in the area of research infrastructure, simplified process administration, and a common database of all relevant information in the area of research cooperation.
The AREANA team will present selected results at the 14th EASN conference in Thessaloniki in October.
