Analysis of Skills, Training, Research and Innovation Opportunities in Space

ASTRAIOS concludes with a high-level Final Event and lasting knowledge resources

The ASTRAIOS project reached an important milestone with its Final Event, held in Paris on 2 December 2025. The event marked the conclusion of the Horizon Europe project Analysis of Skills, Training, Research, and Innovation Opportunities in Space (ASTRAIOS) and brought together representatives from academia, industry, and policy to reflect on the project’s achievements and future directions for the European space workforce. Over the course of three years, ASTRAIOS mapped space-related education and training programmes, analysed workforce data and mobility trends, identified skills gaps, and delivered strategic recommendations aimed at strengthening Europe’s space ecosystem. The Final Event presented the project’s key findings, tools, and resources, reinforcing collaboration and knowledge exchange across the sector.

Beyond the Final Event, ASTRAIOS leaves behind a comprehensive and openly accessible Knowledge Hub featuring the ASTRAIOS Webinar Series, MOOCs on Soft Skills and New Ways of Working, specialised MOOCs in Earth Observation (EO) and GNSS, and a Podcast Series on Success Stories in EO and GNSS. All materials remain freely available through the ASTRAIOS website, ensuring continued access to expert knowledge, practical tools, and learning opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals.

In addition to these digital learning resources, ASTRAIOS has also produced two key publications: the ESG Book, titled Environmental, Social and Governance Space Industry Practices: Closing the Gap Between Sector Needs and Educational Offers for a More Competitive European Space Workforce, and the booklet European Success Stories in EO and GNSS – How European Actors Turn Space Technologies into Real-World Solutions. Together, these outputs reflect the project’s commitment to bridging education and industry while strengthening the European space ecosystem. All materials remain freely available through the ASTRAIOS website, ensuring continued access to expert knowledge, practical tools, and learning opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals.

The ASTRAIOS Legacy Pack has also been officially published and is available online. This 15-page digital booklet consolidates the project’s key results, outcomes, and contributions, offering a clear overview of its work on skills development, education, mobility, and career pathways in the space sector. The Legacy Pack serves as a lasting reference point for stakeholders, highlighting the project’s impact and long-term value.
