The NG-MIMA (Next-Generation Military Integrated Modular Avionics) project addresses critical needs for the future of military avionics. The project’s scope focuses on: Identifying new high-level architecture principles for multi-domain operations and security. Pinpointing key technologies required for next-generation architecture solutions. Enhancing data sharing and processing capabilities in military avionics systems, with a system-of-systems approach tailored to defense-related missions.
Our progress step by step:
The NG-MIMA consortium continues to drive innovation in European defense avionics through a series of productive workshops, meetings, and events.
- IDET, PYROS, ISET 2025 | Brno, Czech Republic (May 28–30, 2025)
Hundreds of visitors explored NG-MIMA’s goals at the Honeywell Aerospace stand, learning how the project enhances European defense capabilities. The week also marked the launch of WP5 (Best Effort Mission Systems) and WP6 (Networking Technologies). - PMT & Executive Board Meetings – Indra, September 2025
Partners aligned on project objectives, strategy, and upcoming workshops, setting the stage for coordinated progress. - WP2 Workshop | Bordeaux, September 2025
Key strategies and guidelines for the top-level architecture were established, advancing NG-MIMA’s modular and resilient avionics framework. - EDF Session | 15th EASN International Conference
NG-MIMA presented its vision for the future of European military integrated modular avionics, fostering discussions on innovation and collaboration. - Annual Event & Workshops | Diehl Aerospace, Frankfurt (Nov 12–14, 2025)
- T23 Workshop: Advanced functional analysis and reconfiguration objectives; established first and second functional levels and a reconfiguration baseline.
- T42 Workshop: Launched new study and analysis activities; aligned partners on requirements and initial technical approaches.
- WP3 & WP4 Kick-Off: Focused on Safety-Critical and Mission-Critical Domains, strengthening secure, high-performance solutions.
- High-Level Architecture Deliverable: The first technical deliverable to the European Commission defined NG-MIMA’s principles, requirements, and KPIs, overcoming legacy limitations and proposing flexible, interoperable solutions.

Complementing these sessions, a new project video was released, showcasing NG-MIMA’s innovative work and the collaborative spirit driving the project forward. With NG-MIMA, we are shaping a future for defense avionics that is more interoperable, resilient, and adaptable. Watch the video here to learn more.
