The CONCERTO project is exploring novel certification methods and means of compliance for disruptive technologies. The project aims to develop a comprehensive set of regulations on certification, together with a preliminary description of Methods of Compliance (MoCs) applicable to the three "thrusts" of Clean Aviation (Hybrid electric regional aircraft, Ultra-efficient short and short-medium-range aircraft, Disruptive technologies to enable hydrogen-powered aircraft).
The CONCERTO team continues to drive innovation in sustainable aviation, bridging the gap between research and real-world applications. As we enter the 4th and final phase of the project, the 3 latest episodes of the “From Lab to Life” podcast give a behind-the-scenes look at the people, processes, and challenges shaping the future of hydrogen-powered, carbon-neutral aircraft.
Hydrogen Fire Tests—Safety Meets Innovation
On 26–27 August, EASA joined CONCERTO at LEFAE facilities for H₂ fire tests. Led by Safran and supported by Airbus, these tests advanced understanding of material behavior under hydrogen flame exposure, providing references for future fire safety standards. These activities demonstrate how safety and innovation go hand in hand in the path to hydrogen-powered aviation.
New video released
Hydrogen is emerging as one of the most promising solutions to decarbonize aviation by 2050, but true innovation must always go hand in hand with safety. From safety studies to certification pathways, the project is laying the groundwork for safe and sustainable hydrogen-powered aircraft. Discover how these efforts are turning innovation into action by watching the latest video here.
