Orbital Replacement Unit - based on Building Blocks for Advanced Assembly of Space Systems

The ORU-BOAS initiative is on a thrilling journey, revolutionizing space systems with an innovative approach: the Orbital Replacement Unit, based on Building Blocks for Advanced Assembly of Space Systems. Our dedicated researchers are committed to an ambitious goal—enabling the assembly, repair, and deployment of space infrastructures directly in orbit, a breakthrough that could redefine space exploration.

As ORU-BOAS is running its final phase, we unveiled the ORU-BOAS Roadmap, which details our bold plans and key milestones from 2023 to 2024. This roadmap represents our strategic vision and the concrete steps we are taking to achieve our mission.

In alignment with our roadmap, we have also released the 3rd ORU-BOAS Newsletter, offering an in-depth look into the latest innovations, explorations, and discoveries driving our project forward.

But that’s not all—there's even more to celebrate! Our latest video offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at cutting-edge space technology, focusing on the groundbreaking ORU-BOAS (Orbital Replacement Unit – Boom Operations and Assembly System) project. In this video, our partner Giorgio Musso from Thales Alenia Space, a global leader in aerospace innovation, shares insights on how they are pushing the boundaries of what's possible in space exploration.
